Are you tired of the swelling, itching and pain that comes from external hemorrhoids?

After years of suffering from mild to severe hemorrhoids and seeing numerous doctors, I’ve learned a lot about what truly works and what does not.  In this article I will outline 5 very easy ways to eliminate hemorrhoid pain that you can start doing before you finish this article!

Tip 1

Make a healthy homemade smoothie.  One of the things my doctors always told me was to increase my fiber intake.  Fortunately, one of my doctors was a naturopath so she also said to use natural stool softeners and gave me lists of foods that do the trick better than Colace and Dulcalax combined.  Three foods on that list are bananas, blueberries and raspberries.

Bananas are a mild laxative and a natural antibiotic.  They help remove toxins from your body, give you energy and they help to naturally shrink hemorrhoids—it’s true!  Blueberries improve circulation, reduce constipation and bloating and they also work as a mild laxative to your body which makes your colon happy!  Raspberries are filled with calcium and magnesium (as well as bananas and blueberries) which are natural healing agents when digested in the body.  Add these fruits and some ice cubes, and sparkling water to a blender and you have a terrifically tasty hemorrhoid eliminator.  For specific smoothie recipes visit the website at the end of this article.

Tip 2

Reduce the stress in your life.  The daily stress we experience and even more chronic stressful situations worsen any condition we have, especially hemorrhoids.  Practice the 5-7-8 technique where you inhale for 5 counts, hold it for 7 counts, and exhale for 8 counts.  This simple breathing exercise will immediately shift your energy level and flood your mind and body with calming energy.  Don’t take my word for it, close your eyes and try it now before you continue reading.

Tip 3

Make your own chilled witch hazel pads.  Witch hazel is a substance that is safe to directly apply to the irritated area.  I like to use paper towels for this but you can use cotton balls, napkins, even maxi pads (for you brave men out there).  Simply place as many paper towels as you like in a container and pour witch hazel over them.  Place the container in the refrigerator and when the feeling hits, take a few out to cleanse the area and help to reduce any swelling and pain.  If you like this tip you can also freeze a few of these pads to use.  It’s a little better than sitting in a bath tub and way more soothing!

Tip 4

Drink a cup of peppermint tea.  I know what you’re thinking, tea, coffee, soda and caffeinated drinks dehydrate the body and should not be consumed if you have hemorrhoids.  Well, you’re right.  An excess of these drinks and processed foods will not help eliminate pain in this area.  There is a way around this though.

You can use fresh peppermint leaves or a non-caffeinated herbal peppermint tea.  The reason this type of tea is good is because peppermint is a soothing agent.  It calms the stomach (remember this next time it’s upset), relaxes the digestive tract, and reduces inflammation in the body.  Another added benefit of peppermint tea, it reduces stress and anxiety.

Tip 5

Last but not least, take a holistic healing approach to healing external hemorrhoids.  Louise Hay, a holistic teacher and author, explains that hemorrhoids can be caused by our thoughts and how we cope with things in our daily lives.  Take a deep breath and ask yourself the following questions.

Is there an area in your life where you’re afraid to let go?  Are you angry at your past?  Are you feeling burdened?

Do any of them seem true for you?  If not think about what could be going on in your life right now that might be creating or worsening this condition for you.  By bringing awareness to what the underlying causes may be, you can do something about it.  Every thought carries creative energy so think about how easy it is to heal hemorrhoids and how great it feels to be pain free.  Your body will respond accordingly!

strawberry banana smoothie

strawberry banana smoothie

You hear the term natural used a lot.  It’s used to sell products, foods, even toys.  What you may not know about this word is that it is that it is a state of mind.  Our natural state is relaxed and confident.  There is nothing wrong, no problem to solve when our mind is in its natural state.  In many ways natural mind is neutral, ready to receive, create, or observe.

You may already know that our mind is in it’s natural state when you are sleeping.  What you may not know is that as you read this, your mind is also in its natural state.  In fact, it’s easier to tell when you are not in your natural state…

You are not in your natural state when you resist whatever you are feeling.

For example, stress is your mind and body’s natural response to a problem.  Sadness, anger, anxiety, happiness, gratitude, bliss (are you resisting this one?) and all other emotions that you do not let yourself have the full experience of, will take you out of your natural state.

Visualize your emotions as a river.  The river is constantly moving with new water coming in and water rushing out to its next locations, but there is constant movement.  If you set a toy boat on the river, it would move with the current.  It would not sit still.  So if you pushed the boat under water, it would more than likely pop up again.  If you tried to keep the boat from going downstream, you would spend a lot of energy trying to keep it in one place.  If you let the boat go and move along at its own pace, it will continue to move down the river until it reaches a stopping point or gets to its destination.

Our emotions are the same way.  They are feelings that if you let move they will eventually go away.  It is when you try to stop what you feel that you have a problem.

You experience thousands of emotions, maybe more in a span of 2 minutes.  When you feel something the best thing to do is to let yourself feel it.  Concentrate less on the cause and more on the feeling.  For example, usually when people feel anger, they feel warm.  They may begin to sweat, their heart starts to race, and they want to do something.  Anger is an active emotion.  You can’t feel anger and sit still.  What’s happening internally, is that your body is preparing for an attack.  The food that you ate, is being used as fuel to give you the energy you need to respond.  If you tried to deny this feeling, your mind may try to shift, but your body is still going.  If this happens for a few hours you would more than likely be ok.  However, most of us don’t seethe and leave.  There are people in my family who have been seething for 40 years about something or other.

Emotions that have been stuffed, silenced, suppressed or denied, become blocked places of energy within your body than lead to illness, unhappiness, extreme weight gain or weight loss, and a sense of incompleteness.

When you are out of your natural state you open yourself to an influence of negative thoughts and outcomes.  You are more likely to develop aches and pains.  You increase your susceptibility to illness (colds, dry skin, breakouts, and more severe illnesses).  If you already have an illness, you speed the progression of it merely by what and how you think.

Emotions are just one part of your health and wellness but it is the area that is the least talked about because as you’ve probably been told the myth that, “emotions are messy.”  Emotions aren’t messy, people are.

One thing that helps you clear blockages so that your emotions can move freely (and no I’m not going to tell you to get Metamucil-not that there’s anything wrong with that) is to have a natural smoothie.

Try this:

1 ripe banana

4 to 6 medium strawberries

½ cup of ice

½ cup of sparkling water (flavored is best…there are some good ones at most grocery stores and Target)

Slice the banana and strawberries and add them to your blender.  Add the ½ cup of ice and ½ cup of sparkling water.  Blend for 1 minute or until smooth.  Pour into your favorite glass.  Makes 2 servings.

Smoothie Facts—The Energy Booster

Strawberries are an energy producing food.  Packed with Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, folic acid, beta-carotene and potassium, these little delights will help you reduce stress and give a big boost to your immune system.  The body can’t make its own Vitamin C so you must get it from the foods you eat and any vitamins you take.

Bananas are filled with potassium, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Vitamin B6, tryptophan, beta-carotene.  This delicious treat will help you sleep better, it’s a mild laxative, boosts energy, and helps the body heal.

A little known fact about bananas:  it helps reduce feelings of depression.

Bananas are one of the foods that make us feel good, naturally.   Tryptophan is a mood-lifting amino acid that helps your brain absorb more serotonin.  What does this mean?  Low levels of Serotonin are thought to be part of the cause of depression and anxiety.  Sparkling water gives you extra flavor without the calories.  Have a natural smoothie for breakfast for a week and see how you feel, or better yet, see if you have more energy to handle the messy things in your life.

saltWhen was the last time you ordered something at a restraunt and then said “Load it up with as much salt as you can!”

Well, whether you know it or not, some of your favorite and healthier options at your favorite restraunts may be giving you heaping amounts of sodium with your order – even in what you order for your kids.

I will have my share of salads, steamed veggies and even pass on the bread, but there are times when I want my potatoe swimming in butter and my pasta drenched in some type of creamy deliciousness.  So, I’m not really surprised about the fat and sodium content in these items.  However, when I’m ordering something for my kids, I’d rather not plant any seeds for cardiac problems down the line.

This article (and there are many others like them) points out the sodium content in these meals.  It’s ridiculous.

What do you do to eat healthy when you go out?

vegetarianI am transitioning into a more vegan lifestlye but not just in what I eat, but with what I think.  When I meet vegetarians, I find myself saying the same thing.  “So you don’t eat any meat?  I don’t know if I could give up…”  What I’m really saying is “I’m afraid I’ll have to give up the things that I love most and I can’t live without my chocolate chip cookies!”  My focus is on what I can’t have instead of what I can have and more importantly, how to truly be healthier by releasing things I know I no longer need.

This doesn’t begin and end with being a vegetarian, but the lifestyle of a vegan (or what I think the lifestyle is), eating more natural, maybe even organic, fresh, and healthy meals can also be applied to other areas of our life.

What if you thought more natural thougths, let your true feelings come out organically and took a fresh approach to trying new things.  Would you be healthier, happier, richer?

This is what I’m working with today so my question to you is, are you a vegan?  Is it more of a lifestyle for you, can you notice changes in how you think and feel and what tips do you have for newbies?

chesseburgerDownload this free GREENandSAVE Guide that will give you tips to save money and the environment at the same time. I never knew so much went into making a burger and why eating less of them is good for the environment (and probably my waistline:)  Of course I’m “transitioning” into vegetarian world so is the same true for a veggie burger at a fast food place?

Oh well, while I figure that out, share this guide with your family and friends.  You can even go to the site and upload your company logo to it for free.  Pretty cool!  For more information visit GreenandSave.com

world-domination-hipI don’t know about you but I’m in a very creative space. I’m completing a program that I started over 6 years ago, my home-based business is starting to take off (we have 2 new contractors!), and hopefully, one day soon, I’ll be expanding my family to include a 3rd child (I’m over 35 so does that mean I’m more likely to have twins?). I cut off all of my hair in a quest to go natural, embraced my chocolate chip cookie addiction (thanks Jan) and letting myself be inspired for the next steps to take towards my remarkable world domination.

This leads me to an ebook review which is something I’ve never done before.

I’ve been blogging and reading other peoples blogs for years. Every once in a while someone sends a link or some ebook leads you to another ebook and that’s what happened when I first read Chris Guillebeau’s manifesto.

If you’ve never read any of his work, then you must start here.

If you’re interested in starting a blog, movement, or just learning how to use social media to improve your business, read his new manifesto, 279 Days to Overnight Success.  Both of these treasures are free but the information is truly worth hundreds, if not thousands of dollars.

I don’t make money from my blogs, or twitter accounts (maybe one day I will), but I do love how social media is changing the way we connect and share.  Plus, how cool is it to get a tweet from Diddy!  If you’re starting a new venture or needing some fresh energy in an old one, this ebook will definitely share a different approach to common challenges and great tips for learning how to earn a living doing what you love, in 279 days!

Are you figuring out the next step to take in your personal life, business life or both?

I’ve started 3 businesses in my life. The first one failed. The second two are growing and I attribute that to many people, some of whom I’ve never met. Michael Gerber is one of them. If you have a business and you haven’t read his book you should get a copy today, The E-Myth Revisited. You can preview the book by clicking here. The following video gives you an excellent introduction to his philosophy and his story.

Are you called to do the impossible? Are you ready to work for yourself and stop working for other people?
